How do I join?

First you must attend a meeting (see meeting details). There is no "right time" to start coming to the meetings. You will have to tell us a little about yourself (who you are, where you go to school, and why you want to be an Explorer). You will fill out a simple information sheet at the first meeting so we can track your attendance. You will receive a more detailed application to take home and fill out. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must read and sign the application. Bring the application back with you at the next meeting with a copy of your latest report card.

We will conduct a background check for any criminal activity, which should be completed by the following meeting. By the third meeting, you will need to pay your dues and purchase your uniform shirt (see Requirements). After you pay your dues, you will receive an Explorer hat, binder and we will begin to process your identification card.

You will be on probation for three months. You will have the opportunity to become certified to conduct ride-alongs with police officers. Once you are certified, you will be able to ride with police officers for up to 17 hours per month. See (Ride-Alongs).
